Industries Served by Reiss Manufacturing - Silicone Rubber Division
AerospaceReiss can produce fabricated, molded, extruded, sponge and dense materials. Reiss silicone can be formulated to be fire retardant and/or fuel resistant and can withstand high heat and cold temperatures. Silicone designed correctly can increase safety and minimize overhaul cost. Silicone works well for seals and in shock-absorbing applications. |
AppliancesReiss is ISO/TS16949:2009 and ISO 9001:2008 certified to ensure good process control. Heat-stable silicone gaskets and tubing can be designed for high-heat and low-temperature applications. We use FDA-approved materials when required. Our silicone materials will provide longer life in many products. Reiss silicone is ideal for electrical insulation. Some appliances that use silicone include ovens, washers, dryers, refrigerators, and small appliances. |
AutomotiveOur in-house compounding allows us to provide a product at a much lower cost, saving your company money. Extruded and molded parts such as tubing, profiles, seals and gaskets can be produced with self-lubricating properties. Silicone is the material of choice because of its high heat resistance, low-temperature properties release features, and electrical insulation properties. Silicone can be self-extinguishing and exhibits low smoke and fume release. Mechanical properties are stable over a wide temperature range. Molded gaskets with synthetic materials are just a few items we offer to the automotive market. Our silicone materials have good compression set even when submersed in oils. We can compound many of our materials to comply with ASTM D-2000. Our engineers will work directly with the automotive manufacturing engineering staff. We offer experience and prototyping design assistance. |
Chemical and Petro-Chemical ProcessingSilicone gaskets and seals protect against dust, gas, corrosives, water, and heat aging. Fluorosilicone is ideal for many of these applications and is used in harsh chemical environments and fuels. We manufacture all types and sizes of silicone and fluorosilicone tubing. |
Construction - Door and Window Seals/ExpansionReiss silicone is an outstanding material for use as a seal that protects against weathering, ozone, dust and water, etc. Our materials can be formulated to remain flexible at low temperatures. Silicone will not support the growth of mildew unless the surface is contaminated. Note: Silicone adhesives adhere very well to silicone rubber and they should be used together. |
Diesel EnginesSilicone works well for gaskets and seals for diesel and gas engines because of its flexibility, strength, high heat resistance and low compression set, and good oil resistance. Fluorosilicone should be used when the gasket or seal is to be in direct contact with fuels or gasoline. Examples are locomotives, heavy equipment, trucks, buses, generators, ships and boats, etc. |
Electrical and LightingSilicone is the material of choice because of its excellent compression set and sealing properties. Silicone can be formulated to provide very low out-gassing properties. Outstanding resistance to weathering, thermal aging, corona resistance and dielectric properties are other important features. Non-conductive, conductive and insulative features can be designed into our silicone. Silicone provides excellent protection against dust, water and corrosives making it ideal for gaskets and seals. |
Food Grade and PharmaceuticalWe can provide materials to meet the requirements of FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, NSF regulations, and the US Pharmacopeia Class VI. Chemical inertness is a key property for silicone, which allows it to be used for gaskets, seals, and tubing for pharmaceutical processes. It is ideal for equipment manufacturers. |
Heating and InsulationReiss silicone can be designed to handle temperatures up to 316°C (600°F) and our silicone does not become brittle like organic elastomers. Reiss silicone is an ideal material for insulating oven and gas heaters and other products where you have high heat. | ||
Heavy Equipment - Truck and BusWe can manufacture many types of gaskets, seals, tubing and grommets. Our silicone can be molded with metals, fabrics, and a wide range of materials that strengthen the finished part. Fluorosilicone works well for corrosive and fuel applications. High heat resistance, low temperature, flexibility, and low compression set make silicone a material ideal for heavy equipment manufacturers. |
Labs and Medical EquipmentSilicone tubing, seals and gaskets are ideal for lab equipment and medical equipment manufacturers. Products are available with FDA ingredients. A variety of physical properties makes Reiss silicone a product which this market can count on for long life that promotes safety. Note: Reiss does not manufacture medical-grade silicone. However, most laboratory and medical equipment does not require medical-grade silicone. |
Marine and Ship ManufacturingExtruded or molded, silicone seals can keep out water, fuels, oils, and chemicals. Hatch seals and cargo doors are ideal areas for silicone. Silicone has very low compression set properties and is an excellent material for high heat applications such as exhaust and engine intakes. Applications include military and commercial vessels, work and pleasure boats, etc. Note: Not to be used below the saltwater line. |
MilitaryWe supply a variety of custom rubber products to military OEMs. We meet most military specifications and have approved products. |
Paper Processing, Printers and CopiersSilicone provides a resilient surface for heat applications when used for hot stamping. Silicone is a material of choice for presses, copiers, die facing, and coating equipment because of its high heat release characteristics. Silicone will prevent sticking. |
Problem Solving for Science and EngineeringReiss silicone rubber has unique physical properties that make it the material of choice for research and development programs. Many engineers are realizing the performance benefits of silicone over organic rubber and that it will last longer. Our engineering staff will assist you in prototyping and will consult with your product development personnel to design and formulate the most economical product for your application. |
RefrigerationSilicone rubber is an ideal gasket material for refrigeration because it remains flexible at extremely low temperatures. Silicone can be formulated to perform at -117°C (-178°F), has low compression set, and is not affected by many corrosives and moisture. |
TransitReiss silicone can be formulated for a variety of seals, gaskets, grommets, and insulation for the transit industry. Our silicone is ideal for prevention of flame, smoke, and toxic fumes. |
Gaskets/Seals/Tubes/Grommets for a Variety of PurposesReiss silicone rubber saves money by eliminating maintenance downtime and can help your product last longer. Silicone works great for a variety of applications and makes for a safer workplace. Silicone rubber is recommended for electrical insulation, seals, and protection from the weather. Silicone provides insulation in high heat applications, and where fuels and oils come in contact, Reiss silicone is the material of choice for fabricated, molded, and extruded rubber products.. |
