Benefits and Features

Temperature Resistance

The most outstanding property of silicone rubber is its great resistance to extreme temperatures. We can formulate silicone rubber elastomers to operate from -117°C (-178°F) up to 260°C (500°F).

Useful Life of Ronsil Rubber
121°C (250°F) 10 to 20 years
149°C (300°F) 5 to 10 years
204°C (400°F) 2 to 5 years
260°C (500°F) 3 months to 2 years
316°C (600°F) 1 week to 2 months

Low Compression Set

When compared with other elastomers, Ronsil silicone elastomers exhibit a very low compression set in temperature ranges varying from -84°C (-120°F) to 260°C (500°F).

Mechanical Characteristics

Ronsil silicone rubber is very strong, resilient and stretchable at temperatures where organic rubber materials fail. Our silicone rubber extrusions and molded silicone elastomers are available in a wide range of hardnesses from 10 to 90 Shore A. Silicone rubber has excellent physical properties compared with other rubber materials at extreme temperatures. We also have the capabilities to formulate silicone elastomers that will not become brittle from -117°C to 260°C (-178°F to 500°F).

Fire Resistance

With long-term exposure to direct flame, Ronsil silicone rubber burns to a non-conducting ash. Our silicone elastomers do not give off any toxic materials or fumes as many organic rubbers do, and can be formulated to comply with UL 94.

Inert Characteristics

Silicone rubber elastomers are very stable compared with organic rubber. Ronsil silicone rubber can be formulated to prevent staining, corrosion, or deterioration from other materials with which it comes into contact. Silicone in and of itself will not support the growth of fungus.

Weathering

Ronsil silicone is not affected by sunlight, ozone or atmospheric gases. Unlike many organic rubber materials, silicone can operate in wet and dry conditions and will not dry rot.

Chemical Resistance

Silicone rubber is resistant to many chemicals, acids, water, saltwater and minerals. Ronsil fluorosilicone can be formulated to work with many harsh chemicals, fuels, oil and alcohol.

Electrical Conductivity

Ronsil silicone rubber can be formulated and manufactured for conductive electrical applications.

Electrical Resistance

Silicone rubber has excellent corona resistance. Ronsil silicone rubber can be formulated for electrical resistance and used as insulation. Our rubber division can formulate silicone to act as a stable insulation material for many electrical applications.

Release

Silicone rubber has very low surface tension, which allows it to release from many organic materials.

Environment

Ronsil silicone rubber has been proven to be less harmful to our environment than many organic rubber materials.
